US retail giant Walmart quietly underwent a major leadership change in South Africa just as it was beginning to ramp up its store rollout in the country.
The number happens to be the same as the number of Game stores Massmart has earmarked for potential closure in the next few months.
Massmart is considering the closure of “around” 20 stores, which will potentially be redeveloped into Walmarts.
While Massmart isn’t actively closing Game stores, the retailer has shuttered at least 13 stores in recent years.
